We create a cohesive experience where every element, from the drink in your glass to the dish in front of you, tells the story of BC’s incredible bounty.

Chefs Lucas Johnston and Devon Latté met at the Acorn restaurant in 2018, instantly diving in to and falling in love with the local concept.  They ran the restaurant together for five years and along with the best staff in Vancouver, collected a Michelin recommendation along with countless other accolades.  They’ve been cooking together ever since and don’t plan on stopping!

At Nero Tondo, we believe in the power of local. Nestled in East Vancouver, we’re a small, passionate restaurant committed to showcasing the best that British Columbia has to offer. From our carefully curated selection of wines, spirits, beer and cider, to the food on your plate, everything we serve is sourced locally—from the farm, forest, and sea.

Our Vision

Our vision is simple: create a cohesive experience where every element, from the drink in your glass to the dish in front of you, tells the story of BC’s incredible bounty. By working directly with local farmers, foragers, and purveyors, we build meaningful relationships and ensure that every ingredient we use is as fresh and sustainable as it is delicious.

Our Team

The heart of our team is made up of chef/owners Devon Latté and Lucas Johnston, alongside talented chef  Nikolai Thiessen. Together, they craft a menu that celebrates the seasons and highlights the rich diversity of local ingredients. Our front-of-house team, led by sommelier / GM Meghan McDowell Johnston and Alex Nicassio, is dedicated to offering you a warm, welcoming experience, guiding you through our selection of local beverages to complement each Dish.
